Addison Trail hosts ‘Go Pink’ events in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

From Oct. 5 to 9, Addison Trail hosted its annual Go Pink Week as part of District 88’s Go Pink or Go Home initiative, which raises money for breast cancer awareness and research.

Many Addison Trail athletic teams and clubs – including Flags and Baton, Blazettes, Cheerleaders, Orchesis, Girls Volleyball, Student Council and Beyond B.O.S.S. Community – participated in events and fundraisers to raise money for Endeavor Health Elmhurst Hospital’s Prospective Surveillance for Rehabilitation program, as well as the Go Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Scholarship in memory of Addison Trail special education teacher Elizabeth Clifford.

To date, $2,000 has been raised, with $1,000 going to the Elizabeth Clifford Scholarship. Final proceeds are still being calculated.

Initiatives included:

Beyond the Ribbon – Oct. 6

On Oct. 6, about 70 Addison Trail students participated in the inaugural Beyond the Ribbon event, an interactive experience designed to connect financial health, physical health and the lifelong importance of making informed decisions.

The day began with the Junior Achievement Town Budgeting Experience, where students participated in an interactive mock town designed to simulate real-world responsibilities. Through this hands-on experience, students made financial decisions that emphasized the importance of financial literacy, responsibility and leadership.

The event reinforced the significance of making informed decisions, a theme that connected directly to the broader purpose of Beyond the Ribbon. As part of Addison Trail’s commitment to breast cancer awareness throughout October, students extended their learning beyond financial wellness to recognize the importance of physical health, community support and giving back.

Addison Trail’s annual Go Pink Walk took place on Oct. 7, bringing students and staff together to support breast cancer awareness and research. About 200 participants gathered to walk the football stadium track, showing their support for those affected by breast cancer while helping raise funds for the cause. The event raised about $1,000.
