During the Sept. 14 District 88 Board of Education meeting, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department Heads Jennifer Kowalski (Addison Trail) and Mary Barney (Willowbrook) presented an overview of CTE programs and student successes.

District 88 CTE programs serve more than 2,500 students and offer 28 dual-credit courses, 33 industry certifications, 35 honors options and opportunities for internships and apprenticeships. Students earned more than 2,200 career certifications during the 2025-26 school year.
Students also are finding success through CTE extracurricular clubs/organizations. Addison Trail students earned state and national recognitions through Business Professionals of America (BPA), DECA and SkillsUSA, while Willowbrook students achieved sectional, state and national qualifications in BPA, DECA, FCCLA, SkillsUSA and esports.
Looking ahead, the CTE departments plan to continue expanding work-based learning, industry partnerships, dual-credit opportunities, certifications and career pathways, while increasing student awareness of CTE opportunities.
