Addison Trail students experience Mexican music, dance and culture through performance by ‘México en el Corazón’

On Sept. 4, Addison Trail’s auditorium was transformed into various regions of Mexico, as the group “México en el Corazón” performed for students and staff.

According to https://mexicoenelcorazon.org, the group “showcases the very best of Mexican folkloric music, dance and songs.” The stage was filled with mariachi music and ballet folklórico – bringing the sights, sounds and culture of México to the school. After the show, students who are part of Addison Trail’s Ballet Folklórico Estilo México, Mariachi de Addison Trail and the school’s HOLA Club (which aims to instill leadership qualities in the Hispanic community, while celebrating and promoting Hispanic culture, traditions and heritage) enjoyed a meet-and-greet session with the singers and dancers. They were able to ask questions, take photos and interact with the performers – including singing several songs together. To view part of that collaboration, click on the video below.

Student belonging is a condition for achievement, and the district provides a variety of opportunities for students to connect through groups and experiences that reflect their interests and cultures.
