District 88 is committed to providing multiple and flexible pathways for students to ensure they are college and career ready and prepared to accomplish their post-high school goals.
As part of that focus, Addison Trail students recently participated in two career-exploration experiences.
On April 23, four students who are enrolled in the school’s Dual-Credit Social Media Marketing course traveled to the Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC). During their visit, the pupils toured the campus and attended a Consumer Insight class. They also had an opportunity to meet with Jacqueline Babb, Senior Lecturer and Director of IMC Full-Time Program, and Belinda Lichty Clarke, Director of Alumni Engagement. Through this field trip, students gained an understanding of how to navigate their college journey to succeed in their future endeavors. The event was chaperoned by Addison Trail teacher Stacey Puccini.

On April 21, 16 students who are enrolled in the school’s Dual-Credit Culinary Arts 3 and 4 courses participated in a behind-the-scenes experience, exploring the world of high-end dining with visits to RPM Steak, RPM Seafood, RPM Events and Pizzeria Portofino. During the visit, students had the opportunity to step inside professional kitchens and see industry-level preparation in action – from state-of-the-art equipment to the fast-paced coordination of culinary teams. They also were able to meet experienced chefs and gain insight into careers in the hospitality industry, as well as enjoy lunch at RPM Italian. The event was chaperoned by Addison Trail teachers Bridget Colleran, Marina Zatos and Gynesis James.
