Addison Trail’s NAMI on Campus club hosts events to support students’ mental health and well-being

On Feb. 18, Addison Trail’s NAMI on Campus club hosted a “Stress, School and Self-Care Panel.”

During the event, Addison Trail staff members Chris Bazant, Jennifer Dowling, Kallie Haney, Ryan Peronto and Evelina Rodriguez spoke with students regarding the topic of burnout. They shared their personal experiences and offered advice. They also reminded participants about the academic and social-emotional resources that are available, which can be viewed at www.dupage88.net/Supports. The panelists were introduced by NAMI on Campus co-presidents and juniors Julio Navarrete and Lea Fischer.

NAMI stands for National Alliance on Mental Illness, a nationwide mental health advocacy organization dedicated to improving the quality of lives of people affected by mental illnesses. The focus of Addison Trail’s NAMI on Campus club is to enhance awareness and understanding of mental illness and to connect students with resources and supports to help ensure their well-being.

The club’s next event will be the Addison Trail Boys Volleyball Team’s annual “Volley for NAMI” game on April 24, which will raise funds for NAMI DuPage (https://namidupage.org). More details will be shared soon.
