District 88 appoints new Assistant Principal at Addison Trail

During its Feb. 2 meeting, the District 88 Board of Education approved the administration’s recommendation to name Glenn Brunton (pictured above) as a new Assistant Principal at Addison Trail, effective July 1.

Brunton is a dean at Addison Trail and has had a tremendous impact on the learning community in his first year with the school. He will succeed Addison Trail Assistant Principal Michael Warren, who will transition to the position of District 88 Assistant Superintendent for Staff Services. Warren will succeed Michael Bolden (Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and former Addison Trail Principal), who will retire at the end of June.

“Brunton quickly connected with our students and families and has made a huge impression,” said Jack Andrews, Addison Trail Principal. “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to the administrative team, and I know he will be an amazing asset to ensure the tradition of Blazer Pride continues for years to come.”

Brunton earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics/computer science in 2003 from Eastern Illinois University. He earned his first master’s degree in secondary education in 2011 from National Louis University and a second master’s degree in Illinois Principal Preparation in 2017 from Concordia University Chicago.

Brunton began his career in education in 2009 at J. Sterling Morton High School District 201. During his 16 years with the district, he served as a math teacher, instructional coach, lead dean of students, assistant athletic director and assistant principal.

As a new Assistant Principal at Addison Trail, Brunton said his focus is to:

  1. Continue the culture of collaboration at the school/district to provide a rigorous and rewarding academic experience for all students

  2. Expand and enhance the diverse pathways to graduation, through providing opportunities for students to access curriculum that’s relevant to their post-secondary goals

  3. Increase community and family engagement

“What I’m most looking forward to in my new role as an Assistant Principal at the school is the opportunity to continue working with the students, community, teachers and leadership team at Addison Trial and District 88,” Brunton said.

Brunton lives in Villa Park with his wife, Jane Mocarski, and their three daughters, Henrietta, Edith and Dorothy.
