On Nov. 1, Addison Trail’s HOLA Club hosted its second annual Baile, which is a social event where dancing is the main activity. This year’s theme was “Dia de Muertos.”

During the Baile, about 500 students from Addison Trail, Willowbrook, Downers Grove North and York high schools enjoyed a mix of music from various genres in Spanish, provided by three live bands and a DJ. The event also featured tacos, aguas frescas and a Western theme. Staff members from Addison Trail and Willowbrook, as well as parents who are part of Addison Trail’s Padres Latinos en Acción (Latino Parents in Action) group, volunteered to help.
The HOLA Club aims to instill leadership qualities in the Hispanic community, while celebrating and promoting Hispanic culture, traditions and heritage.
District 88 is proud to have a diverse school community, with about 50 languages represented among its families. The district’s core values include ensuring all students, staff and community members feel safe, valued, respected and welcome. And the Baile is one event to help accomplish that goal.
