Addison Trail hosts Robotics Summer Camp to provide students with hands-on experience

From June 9 to 13, 11 students participated in a Robotics Summer Camp at Addison Trail.

To view video clips and a photo gallery from the camp, see the videos and images above.

Campers learned the parts, functions, operations and construction of the VEX V5 Clawbot Robot. They were assigned as a builder, a driver, a coder, or a repairer and worked in groups to program their robots to successfully complete a task. One student from each group (the one with the most robotics experience) was tasked with building a unique version of a robot by the end of the camp.

The goals of the camp were to:

  1. Introduce students to VEX Robotics.

  2. Provide hands-on experience with the VEX V5 Clawbot Robot.

  3. Develop interest in this area to start a Robotics Club in August and a competition team by April 2026.

  4. Build a culture of independent designs and explorations geared toward robotics.
