Addison Trail hosts annual Physical Education Week

From March 17 to 21, Addison Trail hosted its annual Physical Education (PE) Week, where students and staff participate in wellness-related activities and contests to encourage a healthy lifestyle and to enhance school spirit.

Highlights of the week included:

  • On March 18, Addison Trail’s “PE Week Coffee” tradition continued, which is an event for staff members to enjoy light refreshments and conversation with their coworkers.

  • On March 20, Addison Trail hosted a blood drive for Vitalant. More than 70 people participated, and the event collected 67 productive pints of blood. Each unit of blood supports up to three lives, which means this event could potentially save up to 201 lives.

The blood donated is used to assist people who are going through cancer treatment or an organ transplant, or those who have been in an accident. The blood drive was open to individuals 17 years old and older, or those 16 years old with parental consent. Participants have to go through a series of questions before donating to ensure they meet certain requirements. The event takes place twice a year at Addison Trail and helps educate students to become blood donors early on.

Students, staff and community members are welcome to continue giving toward Addison Trail’s total. Call 630-530-3989 for details. For hosting blood drives, Vitalant presents District 88 with a check that goes toward scholarships for students at Addison Trail and Willowbrook.

  • On March 21, Addison Trail hosted its annual Superstars Assembly (the culminating event of PE Week), where classes go head to head in a variety of competitions. Below are the results.
