Addison Trail Theatre to host IHSA Showcase
Addison Trail Theatre invites all students, parents/guardians, alumni, staff, community members and friends to attend its first IHSA Showcase on March 19.
During the event, the school will feature its three entries in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Drama State Competition, which will take place on March 28 and 29 at Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn.

When: 7 to 9 p.m. on March 19, 2025
Where: Addison Trail High School, 213 N. Lombard Road in Addison (in the auditorium)
Tickets:
- $10 for adults (13 years old and older)
- $5 for children (12 years old and younger)
- Free for those with a District 88 student ID or a District 88 Senior Gold Card

Participants will see:
- Musical Review: “Dear Evan Hansen” (read more about the show at https://dearevanhansen.com)
* Musical Review is an event in which students present a 10-minute musical selection(s) from a published score(s) written for musical theatre. According to https://tinyurl.com/y325dsy2, the purpose “is to encourage participation, support musical theatre education and recognize student achievement in musical theatre as they showcase their talents. Musical Theatre is an art form that combines the skills of acting, singing and dancing. It encourages creativity and sharpens a student’s foundational skills in presentation and performance.”
- Short Film: “Crazy For You” (written by Addison Trail seniors Amelia Leslie, Alexandra Mertz and Nathan Redmann)
* Short Film is an event in which students create an original video. According to https://tinyurl.com/5f9v9ezb, the purpose “is to encourage participation, support filmmaking education and recognize student achievement in film as they showcase their talents. The short film is both an art form and communication tool that encourages creativity in visual storytelling and sharpens students’ knowledge of conceptualizing, researching, writing, casting, directing, acting, producing and editing.”
- Group Interpretation: “Bystander 9/11” by Meron Langsner (read more about the documentary at https://newplayexchange.org/script/2002846/bystander-911)
* According to https://www.ihsa.org/Sports-Activities/Drama, groups will be evaluated on ensemble work, focus/blocking and story development through characters and narrators.
