On Dec. 11, the sounds of music filled the auditorium at Addison Trail during the school’s annual Holiday Benefit Concert.
The event showcased 26 performances, featuring the school’s bands, choirs, orchestras and ensembles, including the Chamber Ensemble and the Mariachi Ensemble. A special highlight this year was singing holiday favorites, which was led by the Chamber Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and Choir, along with participation from the audience. The medley included classics such as “Let It Snow,” “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Silver Bells” and “Frosty the Snowman.”

This year’s concert supported A.B.L.E. (Artists Breaking Limits & Expectations). According to www.ableensemble.com, A.B.L.E. is “a Chicago nonprofit that creates theatre and film for, with and by individuals with Down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. Whether in person or online, all A.B.L.E. programs strive to foster agency and nurture lifelong skills like communication, collaboration and creativity.” The organization engages actors ages 13 and older through ensembles and outreach programming.
Proceeds from the concert ($1,000) will help support A.B.L.E.’s work to empower individuals and build an inclusive community through the arts.
