Addison Trail Student Council invites community to participate in Color Run fundraiser

On May 11, Addison Trail’s Student Council will host a Color Run fundraiser, and all students, parents/guardians, alumni, staff, community members and friends are invited to participate!

What: Addison Trail Student Council Color Run (a fun community event, where participants can run, play, enjoy the sun and eat a sweet treat – all while getting covered in colored powder)

When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 11

Where: Addison Trail, 213 N. Lombard Road in Addison (at the stadium)

Cost: $10 a person (proceeds will support a scholarship for a graduating senior)

Other options:

• Those who prefer not to run, but would still like to participate, can sign up to be placed at a station to throw colored powder at the runners.

Addison Trail Student Council officers junior Anjali Acosta, junior Jackelyn Macedo Hernandez and junior Pablo Sosa said the goal of the event is to bring everyone together for a good cause.

“We noticed there’s a lack of connection between the generations, and we wanted to host an event that would get the community involved and help bring us all together,” they said. “Our goal is to have this become a memorable event that continues for years to come.”

They added that coordinating the Color Run has been a two-month process and has involved working with the Village of Addison regarding logistics, as well as local businesses for sponsorships. They said Student Council also helps with the school’s Homecoming, Winter Fest Dance and Breakfast with Santa, and the group plans to do even more in the future.

“We definitely recommend getting involved with Student Council,” they said. “It’s a great way to represent the student body and to share your voice with staff and administrators.”
