Addison Trail students participate in educational field trip to Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center

On April 17, 19 Addison Trail students participated in a field trip to the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center in Skokie, which is “dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Holocaust by honoring the memories of those who were lost and by teaching universal lessons that combat hatred, prejudice and indifference” (www.ilholocaustmuseum.org).

The students are enrolled in Bridge English 10 classes and were accompanied by staff members Annette Severino and Jessica Murphy. During their visit, they toured the museum and participated in several interactive exhibits as a culminating activity to reading the memoir “Night” by Elie Wiesel. The students also listened to museum docent Candy King share the story of her family and their struggles coming to America as Jews during World War II.
