Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department to host Evening College Fair for District 88 and local students/families

The Addison Trail Guidance Department is committed to providing opportunities to help prepare students for success in their post-secondary education. As part of that focus, the department will host an Evening College Fair on April 12 to help students plan for their next steps after high school.

The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Addison Trail fieldhouse and is open to all District 88 families and community members. Students/families from surrounding high schools also are welcome. More than 90 colleges and universities from throughout the U.S. are scheduled to attend, and you can view a list of those schools at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1A5Qte5sLvuAz8bUl7HOUT_rjnV8VrFZg/view?usp=sharing.

The fair will use StriveScan, a program that allows students to complete and share demographic information electronically with college representatives. To sign up for StriveScan, go to https://app.strivescan.com/registration (or see the instructions below).

To get the most out of the college fair, review the list of participating schools (see the link above) and choose which ones you want to learn more about. If you have time, research colleges/universities in advance on websites such as www.myfuture.com or Naviance (https://id.naviance.com). It also is helpful to have questions ready to ask admission representatives. To see suggested questions, go to https://www.dupage88.net/site/public/files/?item=4400.
