Addison Trail senior honored for making a difference on and off the field

During the Cubs game against the Minnesota Twins on Sept. 21, Addison Trail senior soccer player Mateo Gomez was honored by PepsiCo Showdown and Buddy’s HELPERS as part of the #MakingADifferenceOnANDOffTheField campaign.

Gomez was one of seven Chicago-area student-athletes spotlighted as future leaders for truly enhancing the lives of others through community service. Gomez is involved with Addison Trail’s Key Club and National Honor Society, as well as TOPSoccer (a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities).

The student-athletes were recognized by mixed martial artist, boxer and businessman Conor McGregor, who sang with the honorees during the seventh-inning stretch.
