Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department to host events to help families with post-secondary financing

The Addison Trail Guidance Department will host presentations for parents/guardians to help them plan and prepare for their child’s post-secondary financing.

On Sept. 9, the department will offer its general Financial Aid Night starting at 7 p.m. via Zoom. This event is open to all families to learn about the financial aid process and what you can do now to help prepare for the cost of post-secondary education. The Zoom link will be e-mailed to all Addison Trail parents/guardians and also will be posted on the Guidance Department webpage at https://dupage88.libguides.com/Guidance.

On Sept. 23, the department will host FAFSA Line by Line for parents/guardians of senior students. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. via Zoom. During this event, representatives from College of DuPage’s Financial Aid Department will go through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) line by line to help families. The FAFSA form will be available to families beginning on Oct. 1 and can be accessed at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. We highly encourage families to complete the FAFSA, as it is a graduation requirement for the class of 2022. The Zoom link will be e-mailed to parents/guardians of senior students and also will be posted on the Guidance Department webpage at https://dupage88.libguides.com/Guidance.

On Oct. 7, the department will host a FAFSA Assistance Night for seniors and their families. This in-person event will begin at 6 p.m. and will assist families with completing the FAFSA. Each student and parent/guardian will need to create a FSA ID and have tax information available. For details, go to https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.
