Addison Trail Band and Orchestra students recently enjoyed several masterclasses provided by professional musicians.

Those events were made possible through the Young People’s Music Initiative (YPMI) grant, sponsored by the DuPage Foundation as part of the JCS Arts, Health and Education Fund. During the classes, students met in person and online with musicians who teach and perform throughout the Chicago area. Topics included tone production, skills development and cultivating good practice techniques.

“It is our hope that through these masterclasses, students will not only learn some new important skills on their instruments, but be inspired to continue to find ways to improve their skills through practice and private study,” said Mark Corey, Addison Trail Music Department Head.
