Addison Trail senior Ally Severino recently committed to join and compete for the Elmhurst University Women’s Volleyball Team.

Severino has been a starter on the Addison Trail Varsity Girls Volleyball Team since her sophomore year, and she has been playing volleyball for nine years. She said the camaraderie of the sport is what makes her want to continue at the collegiate level.

“Something that I enjoy so much about continuing to play volleyball is that it is always teaching me important life lessons such as perseverance, selflessness and teamwork,” Severino said.

Severino said highlights of her high school career include going undefeated and winning against Glenbard West in a tournament her freshman year, winning against Wheaton North during the Semifinals her junior year and competing against Downers Grove South for the Regional Championship her junior year.

“Severino is a versatile player, who proved she is capable of executing skills displayed by every position on the floor at a high level,” said Dan Styler, Addison Trail Girls Volleyball Team Head Coach. “She had a breakout season her junior year and was a crucial piece in leading our team to a historic 23-14 record. It’s hard to imagine our team could have advanced to a Regional Championship without Severino. In 2019, she was named to the All-Conference Team in the West Suburban Conference Gold Division. Severino led our team in hitting percentage at .335 percent, with 162 kills. She also led our team in blocks, with 46.”

Severino plans to major in special education at Elmhurst University.
