The Addison Trail Key Club recently put together care packages for members of the U.S. military serving overseas as part of its “Operation Superhero” service project.
Fifteen packages were sent, and each contained soap, deodorant, foot powder, baby wipes, Advil/Tylenol, lip balm, Q-tips, games, books, snacks, Addison Trail T-shirts and handwritten letters from Addison Trail staff and students. The items were collected through donations and a community fundraising event. Five of the care packages were sent to Addison Trail alumni and a family member of a retired Addison Trail faculty member.
One of the recipients was Addison Trail alumna Ally De La Rosa, class of 2018 (pictured above). De La Rosa is an Information Technology Specialist for the U.S. Army and is stationed in South Korea.
Another recipient was Addison Trail alumna Sam (Fallon) Allen, class of 2009 (pictured above, wearing an Addison Trail T-shirt she received in her care package from the school's Key Club). She is an Intelligence Specialist First Class with the U.S. Navy, serving in Guam with the USS Theodore Roosevelt (an aircraft carrier). The naval warship had nearly 5,000 crew aboard, many of whom have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
