Addison Trail Blazers of all grade levels were invited to support their class during the annual Homecoming Powder-Puff Football Game that took place on Sept. 18 at the school.
The Powder-Puff Game switches up the “typical” football roles, as the girls play flag football and the guys cheer them on. It’s one of the many events to encourage school spirit during Homecoming Week.
The sophomores dominated the freshmen, 42-0. Then, the seniors overtook the juniors in an intense 14-7 game. The senior players were beyond happy when they won, because some have waited years for a win.
“I decided to do it because I’ve been in it since my sophomore year, and I couldn’t wait to win,” said senior Mar Perez. “Finally – I think this year was the best year for Powder-Puff.”
Other seniors who had seen the game in the past, but had yet to play, decided to join in the fun this year.
“I decided to do it because I wanted to make new memories and experience being part of fun school events,” said senior Kate Diego, who scored a touchdown for her team.
The cheer team was as hyper as the players and shared the same motivations for participating in the event.
“I wanted to feel like a real part of my school this year, and I feel Powder-Puff helped that,” said senior Marco Chaidez.
Junior Hazelle Flores said she got on board “to create new memories with my friends.” This was her first year playing, and she intends to play again next year.
After the Powder-Puff Game, students enjoyed a Bonfire, which featured music entertainment provided by disc jockey Christos Panos, who is a senior at Addison Trail.
