Message from District 88 regarding Nov. 3 bond referendum

Based on the unofficial results from the Nov. 3 election, the residents of District 88 have approved the Update88 bond referendum.

We are appreciative of the level of community engagement and interest from our stakeholders in learning about the bond referendum. Regardless of their position on the referendum, community members repeatedly expressed a genuine gratitude for the opportunities and support we provide for our students and the dedication of our staff.

As we’ve previously shared, the bond referendum will fund safety and security upgrades, as well as improvements to infrastructure, ADA accessibility, Career and Technical Education (CTE) spaces, athletic spaces and the auditoriums at Addison Trail and Willowbrook high schools without a net tax rate increase. This is the result of a comprehensive facilities assessment that was completed by the district’s architectural firm, as well as engaging the community for over a year to gather feedback and input from a variety of stakeholder groups.

As we move forward with these projects, we are committed to providing transparent, comprehensive and frequent communication regarding the referendum projects to keep everyone updated and informed. As always, we welcome your feedback and are available to answer questions and hear your thoughts and/or concerns. Discussion regarding the upcoming projects will take place during the Board of Education Buildings and Grounds Committee meetings, which are open to the public. Committee meeting schedules can be viewed at www.dupage88.net/BoardCommitteesCalendar.

Additionally, a new web page – www.dupage88.net/Update88 – will be added soon to share further information and progress of the projects.
