Seniors 'take over' Addison Trail for a day

When you walked through the halls of Addison Trail May 24, you saw the school being led by students, as more than 50 seniors “took over” for teachers and administrators during Addison Trail Lettermen Club’s second annual Senior Takeover Day.

Lettermen Club co-sponsor Hannah Sutton came up with the idea for a Senior Takeover Day after participating in a similar event at Lake Park High School as a student. She and co-sponsor Rebecca Cibulka wanted to host the event as a way to create a fun tradition at Addison Trail.

Cibulka said any senior was eligible to participate, as long as he or she was in good academic standing and his or her teacher signed the permission slip forms.

Senior Nathan Biewer took over as the leader of the school by filling in for Principal Adam Cibulka.

"It was a lot of fun to see what Mr. Cibulka does on a daily basis," Biewer said. "He knows all the students and staff, and he asks them how they're doing. This was definitely a highlight of my senior year."

Principal Cibulka said the day was a great opportunity for staff and students to interact.

“Senior Takeover Day is a great chance for students to see firsthand what we do in the classroom and beyond and for us to strengthen our relationships with our students,” he said.
