Addison Trail hosts ‘Go Pink’ events in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
From Oct. 6 to 10, Addison Trail hosted a Go Pink Week as part of District 88’s annual Go Pink or Go Home initiative, which raises money for breast cancer awareness and research.
Many Addison Trail athletic teams and clubs – including Flags and Baton, Blazettes, Cheerleaders, Orchesis, Girls Volleyball, Energy Rush and Student Council – hosted events and fundraisers to raise money for Endeavor Health Elmhurst Hospital’s Prospective Surveillance for Rehabilitation program, as well as the Go Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Scholarship in memory of Addison Trail special education teacher Elizabeth Clifford.
To date, more than $6,000 has been raised (with $1,000 going to the Elizabeth Clifford Scholarship), and final proceeds are still being calculated.
Initiatives included:

- The Addison Trail and Willowbrook girls volleyball teams hosted the annual District 88 Dig Pink match on Sept. 16, and the event raised $2,154. To read more, and to view a photo gallery from the event, click on the image above (or go to https://www.dupage88.net/site/page/17038).

- Addison Trail’s annual Go Pink Walk took place on Oct. 8 and raised $2,100. Participants donated $5 and had fun walking around the football stadium track with friends and family. Before the walk, Janet Benedict spoke with students about breast cancer and where the money they raise goes.
