Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department to host Spring College Fair

The Addison Trail Guidance Department is committed to providing services and programs to help prepare students for success in college and career.

As part of that focus, the department will host its annual Spring College Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 16. More than 80 colleges and universities are scheduled to attend the event, and you can view the list of schools at https://www.dupage88.net/site/public/files/?item=4401. The college search is a very exciting time for students and families, but it also can be stressful. The Addison Trail Guidance Department encourages all District 88 students and parents/guardians to attend the fair to assist with this process.

For the second year, we will use StriveScan, a program that helps colleges keep track of the students with whom they speak and helps students keep track of the colleges they visit during the fair. To sign up for StriveScan, go to www.strivefair.com, or use the QR code at https://www.dupage88.net/site/public/files/?item=4399.

To get the most out of the college fair, look over the list of participating schools (see the link above) and choose which ones you want to learn more about. If you have time, research colleges/universities in advance on websites such as www.myfuture.com or Naviance (https://id.naviance.com). It also is helpful to have questions ready to ask admissions representatives. To see suggested questions, go to https://www.dupage88.net/site/public/files/?item=4400.
