Illinois State Board of Education shares information about the Every Student Succeeds Act indicators and designations

District 88 shares information provided by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) about the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). In 2015, the ESSA was passed as a new education law that reauthorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), the U.S. national education law and longstanding commitment to equal opportunity for all students. The previous version of the law was the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, which was enacted in 2002.

The ESSA will be implemented on the Illinois Report Card later this month and will use multiple measures (referred to as indicators) to evaluate schools. Each individual school (rather than the overall district) will be rated on those indicators and then placed into one of four categories (referred to as designations).
