On Sept. 29, District 88 hosted a district update meeting for parents/guardians and students. This was the first update meeting of the 2026-27 school year.

During the meeting, Addison Trail, Willowbrook and District 88 administrators shared important information regarding:

  • Recent successes, including Addison Trail and Willowbrook earning a College Readiness Rating of 9/10 from GreatSchools and achieving status as Best High Schools though the U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 Best High Schools rankings

  • The district’s Strategic Plan and corresponding online data dashboard

  • The district’s continued focus on providing a high-quality and comprehensive learning environment to prepare students to be college and career ready, including details about:

    • A reminder that District 88 offers more than 30 Advanced Placement (AP) college-level courses and more than 50 dual-credit and collegiate-credit courses in 18 career pathway areas, along with award-winning fine arts programming

    • The district’s initiatives to connect students to work-based learning opportunities and career experiences

    • SchooLinks, a comprehensive college-and-career planning and tracking tool

    • District 88’s College Launch - The Power of 15, which are courses that empower students to begin their college journey early by earning college credit in high school

  • Resources available for students (academic and social-emotional supports)

  • Attendance support and policies (including a new district initiative to improve student attendance)

  • New dress code policies

  • Student success initiatives (including information about District 88’s Beyond B.O.S.S. Community, which engages Black students and their parents/guardians in meaningful programs and events that celebrate identity, build leadership and strengthen connections)

  • Fall testing dates/information

  • Biliteracy updates/information and available language services

  • Updates/reminders with facility improvements, transportation, and safety and security

  • How to stay connected with District 88 (including groups that parents/guardians and community members can join, as well as the variety of ways in which the district shares information and communicates with stakeholders)

  • The district’s continued commitment to fiscal responsibility, which includes receiving the highest financial designation from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the second highest Moody’s Rating

  • District 88’s facilities planning process

  • District 88’s bond referendum: The District 88 Board of Education has adopted a resolution to place a bond referendum on the Nov. 3, 2026, ballot. If approved by voters, the referendum would authorize the issuance of bonds to address facility needs at Addison Trail and Willowbrook. The issuance of bonds to address the proposed improvements could be made without a net tax rate increase. This is possible because District 88 has existing referendum debt that will be paid off, and the district has limited the proposal to the highest-priority needs. Throughout the school year, District 88 hosts update meetings to communicate and connect with parents/guardians and students. This is an opportunity to meet with administrators and Board of Education members to discuss the school year and future plans, as well as a chance to participate in a question-and-answer session.

  • The next meeting will take place on Dec. 15, 2026.

  • Families will receive an e-mail with details before the meeting, including a link to register.

  • An interpreter will be present during the meeting to share the information in Spanish.
