Willowbrook hosts Homecoming 2018

From Sept. 17 to 22, Willowbrook celebrated Homecoming Week with several events and activities. This year’s theme was “Roaring ’20s,” and students and staff showed their Warrior Pride and school spirit throughout the week. Highlights of Homecoming Week included:

  • Sept. 19: Homecoming Bonfire and Powder-Puff Game (see photos in the gallery below)
    • The seniors won against the juniors in overtime

  • Sept. 20: Class of 2018 Distinguished Alumni/Distinguished Service Awards induction (see photos in the gallery below)

    • Distinguished Alumni class of 2018 inductees
      • Dan Castady – Class of 1997
      • George M. Castady – Class of 2001
      • Dr. Thomas E. Catanzaro – Class of 1962
      • John Dempsey – Class of 1978
      • David F. Jordan – Class of 1965
      • Matt Pittman – Class of 2000
    • Distinguished Service class of 2018 inductees
      • Judy Boldt – Retired 2013
      • Jim Brusveen – Retired 2006
      • Dennis Doyle – Years of Service: 1994 to 2011

  • Sept. 21: Homecoming Pep Assembly, Parade and Football Game (see photos in the gallery below)

 

    • During the Pep Assembly, the 2018 Homecoming Kings and Queens were crowned. They are (pictured above, from left):
      • Freshmen Izabelle Manning and John Swastek
      • Sophomores Sofia Espinosa and Tyler King
      • Seniors Tyler MacIntyre and Caitlyn Owen
      • Juniors Francis O’Byrne and Gianna Irion
    • The parade began at the Ruggard Gazebo and ended at the high school. The event showcased a variety of Willowbrook athletic teams, clubs and activities, as well as several Villa Park organizations.

    • The football game was against Hinsdale South High School. Willowbrook won, 20-10.
  • Sept. 22: Homecoming Dance “Roaring ’20s” (see photos in the gallery below)
    • 1,200 students attended the dance, which included refreshments provided by The Brook Catering Co., which is comprised of Willowbrook students who are enrolled in culinary classes at the school
