Addison Trail students write cards for victims of earthquake in Italy

On Aug. 24, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck central Italy. According to an article from an Italian news source (www.ilpost.it/2016/08/29/terremoto-amatrice-accumoli-arquata-tronto), 229 people in Amatrice perished in the quake, and 290 total lives were lost in the Marche and Lazio regions.

After hearing that news, 50 students in Addison Trail world language teacher Judie Vitiritti-Lynch’s two Advanced Placement (AP)/college-level Italian classes wrote cards for the victims. Fifty cards were created and mailed to Amatrice, along with a letter to the town’s mayor, Sergio Pirozzi.
