|
Registration for Behind the Wheel during Semester 2, 2024-2025, will take place from Monday, November 18 at 9:00 a.m. through Friday, November 22 at 3:00 p.m. A student interested in signing up for Behind the Wheel second semester must either be enrolled in Driver's Education classroom currently (Semester 1), be enrolled in Driver's Education classroom Semester 2 (2024-2025) or have already completed Driver's Education classroom successfully.
The registration process will consist of the completion of an online Google form. The link to the form will be the large blue box above. The form will be available at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18 through 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22. Registration will be filled by date of birth with the oldest students being assigned first and working towards the younger students. Students and parents will be notified the week of December 16 of their assigned Behind the Wheel spot. At that time, a $250 fee will be due. Students and parents of those unable to be assigned will also be notified at that time.
As you are completing the Google registration form above, you will be asked questions pertaining to student availability. Please take into consideration commitments such as sports, jobs, clubs, etc. when indicating the availability of your student to be taught. The demand for Behind the Wheel is very great and it is usually not possible to change your assignment if you suddenly have a conflict. Scheduling conflicts could result in the student having to take Behind the Wheel at a later date. Willowbrook Driver Education Department
Willowbrook High School provides a comprehensive Driver Education Program to all eligible students that reside within the District (whether enrolled in the school or not) between the ages of 15 and 21 who request such a course. The course focuses on preparing students for the rigors and responsibilities of driving. Students will need to successfully complete the classroom Driver Education class, which is one semester long. Students will learn not only the rules of the road but also the dangers of behaviors such as texting and driving and drinking/drug use and driving. A variety of guest speakers are planned every semester, who deliver the latest news and trends in teen driving.
The Behind the Wheel Program consists of six hours of on-street training and at least six hours of observation time. All Driver Education instructors are certified teachers and provide the best instruction available. Behind the Wheel times are scheduled for before school, after school and summer school.
