Willowbrook students earn medals at FCCLA State Leadership Conference

Four Willowbrook students recently competed in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference – and earned top finishes in their events.

Junior Mark Jenkins earned a gold medal in the Food Production Relish Tray category, senior Juan Gallegos earned a silver medal in that same category and seniors Lindsey Perry and Amber Nork won a gold medal in the Children’s Literature Presentation event.

The conference took place from April 16 to 18 in Springfield. FCCLA is a nonprofit, national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private school through grade 12. FCCLA’s mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge and career preparation.
