On April 18, members of the Addison Trail Muslim Student Association (MSA) combined with the school’s Key Club and Student Council to volunteer at St. James Farm in Winfield through the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.
The students, along with Addison Trail counselor and MSA adviser Shane Cole, helped eradicate garlic mustard, a highly invasive biennial herb. Participants learned about how garlic mustard came to the forest, how to control the spread, the health of the forest in western DuPage County and the history of St. James Farm (which can be viewed at www.dupageforest.org/places-to-go/centers/st-james-farm).
