Willowbrook hosts State send-off celebration for Special Olympics Basketball Team

On March 12, Willowbrook hosted a State send-off celebration for members of the school’s Special Olympics Basketball Team (pictured above), who competed in the Special Olympics Illinois 2026 State Basketball Tournament. That event takes place from March 13 to 15 at Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan University.

The student-athletes were greeted with congratulatory cheers from their peers, family members and friends during an assembly in their honor in the school’s gym. To watch the presentation, click on the video above.

The Willowbrook student-athletes who competed are freshman Andrenae' Anderson, junior Ricardo Ayala, senior Casey Barnes, sophomore Jordan Gamino, sophomore Quinton Jackson, junior Milagro Ramirez Lainez, sophomore Juan Reyes, senior Christe Vasili, senior Kostandin Vasili, freshman Amanda Vega and senior David Wolf.
