Addison Trail students participate in community events

Addison Trail students recently participated in two community events in the Village of Addison.

  • On Nov. 15, Addison Trail orchestra students performed during the Addison Mayor’s Community Charity Ball. They provided music entertainment during the evening’s social hour, and Addison Trail senior Elias Aguilar sang the National Anthem. The ball raised much-needed funds for 14 Addison-based charities and service organizations, including the District 88 Foundation. Proceeds will support mini-grants to benefit District 88 students through implementing innovative, teacher-led initiatives that could not otherwise be funded through the district’s budget.

  • On Nov. 16, members of the Addison Trail Ballet Folklórico Estilo México performed during Addison Township’s inaugural Luz de los Muertos (Light of the Dead). The evening featured food, vendors, live music and dance entertainment, as well as ofrendas (altars) to recognize and honor el Día de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead). Community leaders also were recognized during the event. They are (pictured above, from left to right) District 88 Board of Education Vice President Dan Olson, Addison Park District Board of Commissioners President Michael Capizzano, Addison Township Clerk Maria Vesey, Addison Township Supervisor Bobby Hernandez, Addison Township Trustee Debbie Sandstrom, Village of Addison Mayor Tom Hundley and Addison Township Trustee Joey Moore.
