Addison Trail senior selected as Student Reporter for Broadway In Chicago Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards

On May 12, Addison Trail senior Raina Ashrafi will be front and center with exclusive access during the 14th Annual Broadway In Chicago Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards (IHSMTA), which will take place at Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place in Chicago. IHSMTA, sponsored by NBC 5, celebrates excellence in high school theatre throughout Illinois and is the state’s regional program that feeds into the National High School Musical Theatre Awards®, also known as the Jimmy Awards®.

Ashrafi has been selected as one of two Student Reporters to cover the 2025 IHSMTA ceremony through social media. This position/experience provides an opportunity to expand connections into local schools’ journalism, film and other related departments.

As part of this honor, Ashrafi also has been submitted for the Jimmy Awards® Student Reporter search. Winners will be notified and selected by the Jimmy Awards® in early June.
