On April 25, Addison Trail’s HOLA Club hosted its first Baile, which is a social event where dancing is the main activity. To view a photo gallery, see the images above.
During the Baile, about 500 students from Addison Trail, Glenbard, Fenton, Morton East and Willowbrook enjoyed a mix of music from various genres in Spanish, provided by three live bands and a DJ. The event also featured tacos, aguas frescas and a Western theme. Staff members from Addison Trail and Willowbrook, as well as parents who are part of Addison Trail's Padres Latinos en Acción (Latino Parents in Action) group, volunteered to help.
The HOLA Club aims to instill leadership qualities in the Hispanic community, while celebrating and promoting Hispanic culture, traditions and heritage.
District 88 is proud to have a diverse school community – more than 50 languages are represented among its families, and almost half of the nearly 4,000 students at District 88 speak a language other than English at home. District 88’s core values include ensuring all students, staff and community members feel safe, valued, respected and welcome. And the Baile is one event to help accomplish that goal.
