On Jan. 30, six Willowbrook students participated in ArtConnectED’s Art Throwdown.
According to www.artconnected.org, this is “a live, fast-paced, head-to-head, interscholastic Visual Arts competition … Students put their artistic skills to the test, competing against other Illinois high school students, while the audience gets to witness the creative process first hand as they root for their favorites. Each challenge involves a 90-minute, hands-on and creative problem to be solved.”
The prompt for the Jan. 30 competition was to create Installation Sculptures for the next Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The teams were challenged to design and create three sculptures for the stage or grounds at the festival. Their 3D cardboard scaled models had to include one piece that was at least 3 feet in height and two other pieces that were at least 2 feet in height. To watch the event, click on the video above.
The event consisted of 38 teams from 22 high schools throughout Illinois. Below are the Willowbrook students who competed.
