On Nov. 14, students in Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher Amy Nowak’s Culinary Arts 3 and 4 class participated in a “Burger Wars & Then Some” competition – where “the skill was the grill.”

The students worked in groups to create an original burger, come up with a unique name that reflects the ingredients used and write a description of the dish. They also had to make a side item or a dessert that could be cooked on a grill.
Staff members served as judges, and they evaluated the entries based on creativity/originality, flavor/taste, quality, presentation/plating and burger description.
The winners of the competition are junior Jaydyn Turnquist, senior Madison Vega and sophomore Michael Tymoszenko III. As the winning team members, they received an “engraved” burger turner.
