Addison Trail students recently participated in two career-exploration field trips.

During their visit, pupils learned about the apprenticeships offered and the requirements to apply. They also were able to watch apprentices practicing their skills in the various programs, which are:

On Nov. 12, 18 students went to the IBEW-NECA Technical Institute (IN-Tech) in Alsip, where they were able to hear from current students and instructors and view trainings in and out of the classroom. They also learned about IN-Tech’s two types of apprenticeship: a four-year communications apprenticeship and a five-year construction apprenticeship.

According to https://ejatt.com, “The sponsoring organizations of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134 and the Electrical Contractors Association of the City of Chicago have created IN-Tech to supply the unionized electrical industry with high-quality training that values and integrates safety, quality, speed and integrity into every class that is offered.”
