Willowbrook Speech Team earns awards at Joliet West High School tournament

On Nov. 2, members of the Willowbrook Speech Team competed in the group’s first tournament of the 2024-25 season and came in 4^th place out of 23 schools.

The event took place at Joliet West High School, and below are the team’s individual results.

Dramatic Duet Acting: Sophomore Bridget Krigsholm and freshman Shem Rodrigues, 3^rd place

Dramatic Interpretation: Senior Margaret Brennan, 5^th place; freshman Mia Weems, 4^th place; senior Joshua Jackson, Top Novice

Extemporaneous Speaking: Sophomore Dua Samad, Top Novice

Impromptu Speaking: Senior Margaret Brennan, 3^rd place  

Informative Speaking: Sophomore Aila Qaiser, 6^th place

Oratorical Declamation: Sophomore Mia Ojeda, 6^th place

Original Comedy: Senior Colton Emmert, 6^th place

Original Oratory: Sophomore Madeleine Calvillo, 4^th place; sophomore Alina Iqbal, 5^th place; Sophomore Aila Qaiser, Top Novice

Poetry Reading: Sophomore Emma Beres, 6^th place
