Addison Trail students participate in hospitality/tourism career pathway field trip

On April 30, 23 Addison Trail students enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) and world language classes attended a career-exploration field trip to Chicago.

During their visit, students participated in a behind-the-scenes tour of LondonHouse Chicago (a luxury hotel in the city) with General Manager Juan Leyva and Director of Operations Jeovanny Arellano. They also learned about job opportunities in the hospitality industry, including housekeeping, food and beverage, guest relations, valet, finance, human resources, social media, spa services, event planning and more.

Students then visited Navy Pier to tour the area and see the many jobs/careers that are available, including guest relations, tour guides, sales, food and beverage, retail, operations management, hotel management, maintenance, attraction attendants and more. The tour was led by Training and Development Manager Gregory Keith Porter and Resource Development and Special Events Manager Colleen Ward.

The tours reiterated skills and expectations necessary to be successful not just in this field, but in any career. Highlighted skills included dedication, motivation, willingness to learn and having a great attitude.
