Addison Trail students visit Chicago Symphony Orchestra, speak with alumna who’s a professional musician

On Feb. 21, Addison Trail band and orchestra students participated in a field trip to Chicago Symphony Orchestra (see photos above).

During the visit, pupils were able to view a rehearsal. They also had an opportunity to meet with Addison Trail alumna Diane Mues (class of 1978), who has been a violist with Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 1987. Mues answered questions about being a professional musician and provided feedback to students regarding their individual musical journey.

According to https://cso.org/about/performers/cso-musicians/strings/viola/diane-mues, Mues participated in Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, where she earned the principal viola chair. She received her bachelor’s degree from DePaul University and was principal viola of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago while in college. She also was awarded the Louis Sudler Prize in the Arts.
