The Willowbrook Theatre Department invites you to a show that explores the complexities and quirks of relationships and the twists and turns of life that can lead to unexpected change and self-reflection. The school will present its winter play, “The Odd Couple,” on Feb. 8, 9 and 10.

According to Playbill.com (http://tinyurl.com/nn6rd2ea), “The Odd Couple” tells the story of “two suddenly single pals – a sloppy sportswriter and a fastidious news writer – (who) strain their friendship by (becoming) roommates and unconsciously repeating the same mistakes they made in the marriages they just left.”

Willowbrook Theatre Director Sara Corkery said she chose this production because it’s a well-known and popular story, and she hopes that will attract a good-sized crowd. It also offers the actors an opportunity to experience a different and challenging genre. The production features a small cast of eight students, which has allowed them to become a close-knit group.

Corkery added the show is filled with physical comedy and props, so there’s something for everyone.

“I enjoy reviving classics and bringing them to the stage to resonate with audience members who are familiar with the show, as well as with a new audience,” Corkery said. “The main message of ‘The Odd Couple’ is discovering the value of relationships, despite fate changing the people you end up with. The characters are richly drawn with well-written dialogue, who often surprise us.”
