Addison Trail hosts annual International Fest Week

From Nov. 6 to 10, Addison Trail’s International Club hosted the school’s annual International Fest Week, which featured the following events/activities.

  • Ten presenters spoke with students about their travels and experiences from throughout the world. Through the presentations, students were able to learn about a variety of countries, cultures, topics and perspectives. Prerecorded videos from staff members also were available. • A Virtual World Language Fair was provided by Junior Achievement of Chicago (https://chicago.ja.org/). This program features World Language Career Speakers discussing career pathways.

  • A spirit week took place during the event, with each day featuring a different travel theme.

  • “Games from around the world” provided students and staff with the opportunity to learn about entertainment in other countries.

  • Resource classes participated in a Dec-A-Door contest, where they chose a country and decorated their door to represent that location and culture. The goal was to show that Addison Trail encompasses many nationalities, but is one Blazer Nation. The decorations were judged, and the winners are listed and pictured below.

    • 1st place: Ireland (pictured above)

    • 2nd place: Italy (pictured above)

    • 3rd place: Puerto Rico (pictured above)

  • Chicharrones from 5 Stars Sports were available for students and staff to buy throughout the week (pictured above).

  • Students and staff wrote notes of encouragement to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital patients.

  • International Fest Week culminated with the school’s annual International Dance Show on Nov. 10, which featured dances representing various countries/cultures. To view a photo gallery of the dance show, click on the image above, or go to https://dupage88.net/site/page/15872.

  • A portion of the proceeds from the week will be donated to UNICEF (https://www.unicefusa.org/), an agency of the United Nations responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide.
