Willowbrook culinary students who are part of The Brook Catering Co. prepare their Tour of Asia luncheon for staff members on Sept. 14.
On Sept. 14, The Brook Catering Co. (which is comprised of Willowbrook culinary students) hosted a Tour of Asia luncheon for staff members.
The event took place in the school’s Willows Dining Room and featured hot and sour soup, sweet and sour pork, tofu and mushroom stir fry with fried rice (vegan dish) and milk bread with chocolate filling.
Through The Brook Catering Co., students enrolled in Culinary Arts 3 – Catering learn about event planning, scaling recipes, ordering groceries, figuring costs in a lab setting and working with clients to determine themes and menus. The course prepares students for careers in the food service industry, catering and nutrition/menu planning. Students in this program earn dual credit, have an honors option and are certified ServSafe safety and sanitation managers. The Brook Catering Co. provides service for many events within the school, as well as throughout the community.
