Willowbrook Speech Team earns awards at virtual tournament hosted by Rolling Meadows High School

On Jan. 16, members of the Willowbrook Speech Team competed in a virtual tournament hosted by Rolling Meadows High School and finished in 2nd place out of 30 schools.

Below are the team’s results from that event. The students requested donations instead of trophies, and Willowbrook requested items be sent to the Lombard/Villa Park Food Pantry.

Dramatic Duet Acting: Junior Katherine Wentworth and senior Sean Shepherd, 1st place (Tournament Champions); Seniors Caitlin Brennan and Cara Burns, 1st (Next-in)

Dramatic Interpretation: Senior Michael Poirier, 3rd place; Burns, 6th place

Extemporaneous Speaking: Sophomore Neeraja Kumar, Finalist; Junior Emma Wrzeszcz, 1st (Next-in); Junior Emily Maher, 1st place (Tournament Champion)

Humorous Duet Acting: Burns and senior Jacqueline Schiro, 5th place; Sophomore Amelia Tortorici and Shepherd, 4th place

Impromptu Speaking: Kumar, Finalist; Maher, 2nd place; Senior Siobhan Heneghan, 4th (Next-in)

Informative Speaking: Maher, 3rd (Next-in)

Oratorical Declamation: Brennan, 1st place (Tournament Champion)

Original Comedy: Tortorici, 5th place

Poetry Reading: Poirier, Finalist; Senior Lily Morgan, Finalist (Next-in)

Prose Reading: Wentworth, 4th place; Poirier, 6th (B-Final)
