Counseling Corner: Willowbrook provides academic resources to support students

The mission of District 88 is to work for the continuous improvement of student achievement.

As part of that focus, Willowbrook provides a variety of academic resources and programs to support students. The Willowbrook Guidance Department shares details about several of those services below.

  • Academic Resource Center (ARC): The center offers tutoring in a variety of subject areas before, during and after the school day. See important details at https://www.dupage88.net/site/page/57.

  • Math Resource Center (MRC): Math Resource is a class students can take to earn 1/2 credit. Willowbrook has three sections that run periods 4-6. Students who need drop-in tutoring support can request a pass to visit the Math Resource Center during Warrior Time.

  • Writing Center: The center provides students with assistance on writing assignments.

  • Warrior Time (resource period): Each department has its own resource center to support students in that specific content area. Students can get a pass from their classroom teacher to attend a resource center the next day.

  • Communicating with staff members: Students are encouraged to follow up with their teachers to seek extra help or further explanation.

  • New Beginnings Leaders: Selected upperclassmen serve as mentors to freshmen through this program. They visit freshmen during Warrior Time to provide academic support.

If students need help navigating these academic resources, we encourage them to see their counselor. For questions or more information, contact the Guidance Department at 630-530-3427.
