District 88 Board of Education recognizes the district’s Transition Program for receiving award

During the Oct. 29 District 88 Board of Education meeting, the Board and administration recognized the District 88 Transition Program, which helps individuals ages 18 to 21 who have disabilities learn life skills, obtain job training in a community setting and transition to life after District 88.

On Oct. 16, the Transition Program received the Community Partner of the Year and Vocational Award from Parents Alliance Employment Project (PAEP). Each year, the PAEP recognizes one business or community partner with this award.

According to the PAEP website, www.parents-alliance.org/index.html, “Services provided by PAEP are based on the philosophy that all individuals have the right to work in the communities in which they live. PAEP provides a variety of programs and services to individuals with developmental disabilities, including career counseling, job training and preparation, job development, job placement and job coaching and follow-up.”
