On March 22, District 88 hosted its annual “Author in the House” at Addison Trail and Willowbrook.

During that event, award-winning author Lance Rubin met with Addison Trail and Willowbrook students and staff and provided an interactive presentation about his experiences and career path and how his work with improvisational comedy directly influences and enhances his writing. He also hosted a separate program about the writing and publishing process. Students performed improv scenes with Rubin and participated in a writing activity.

Rubin wrote the young adult “Denton Little” series, and the first book in that series (“Denton Little's Deathdate”) won the International Literacy Association (ILA) Young Adult Fiction Award in 2016. He also has worked as an actor and written sketch comedy, including successful runs of “The Lance and Ray Show” at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City, and has co-written a new musical called “Broadway Bounty Hunter.”

Rubin lives in Brooklyn with his wife and son. For more information, go to www.lancerubin.com and follow him on Twitter @LanceRubinParty.
