District 88 participates in College Board 2017 Midwestern Regional Forum

On Feb. 28, Dr. Scott Helton (District 88 Superintendent), Adam Cibulka (District 88 Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment), Dan Krause (Willowbrook Principal) and Michael Bolden (Addison Trail Principal) presented during the College Board 2017 Midwestern Regional Forum.

That event took place from Feb. 26 to 28 in Indianapolis, and the District 88 group led a session titled “Breaking Down Barriers and Opening Access to AP for All.” During the past 10 years, Addison Trail and Willowbrook have seen an exponential growth in the number of low-income and minority students accessing AP programs, and this session focused on how to create a culture that promotes AP to all students.

Helton also was a speaker in a session titled “Education Policy with a New Administration and Stronger State Role.” That presentation focused on answering the question, “How will the new presidential administration put its stamp on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and federal education policy?”

The forum was a tremendous opportunity for District 88 administrators to share the district’s experiences in these areas, as well as to learn from other education leaders in the Midwest. For more information about the forum, go to https://midwesternforum.collegeboard.org.
