District 88 continues to improve technology services for students and staff

At District 88, we have some exciting technology updates as we are in the midst of the 2016-17 school year at Addison Trail and Willowbrook.

Our Technology Coaches are assisting with a focused and concentrated one-to-one pilot this fall with their students. We have four Technology Coaches, who each have one class of students using Chromebooks assigned to them for use in and out of school. We are assessing and gathering data as to how students use those devices to access online curricular resources. That data is helping to determine areas of need for our students and teachers in terms of device use and access to technology resources.

We are continuing and expanding on a series of trainings and refreshers for our staff specific to technology development. Our teachers are able to participate in period-by-period meetings about how to integrate technology tools within their teaching practices. Our classified and clerical staff members also have had a series of trainings specific to using technology tools as a support application in their role.

We also are in the process of distributing refurbished laptops to students who have limited access to technology outside of school. Counselors have been meeting with students to determine need, and our technology staff has been doing an overview on setup and access of those donated machines with those students. Our counselors and students have been very supportive and positive about this donation program.

If you have any questions about our technology initiatives, feel free to contact me at alenaghan@dupage88.net or 630-782-3133. Thank you for your continued support of District 88.
